It's Essential For Your Success

Through my own two major career changes, and after coaching many people through successful career change, I have determined six useful strategies for navigating this life passage with skill, perspective, humor, a sense of adventure, and a great outcome. job vacancy indonesia
First of all, know up front that few people feel skilled at figuring out a new career or finding that next job. Most people find the task daunting. If you are someone who is used to feeling on top of your game, be willing to be out of your comfort zone on this one – chances are, this is not your game. And if you are usually a not-too-confident person, know that in this context, you are not alone in feeling unsure or yourself. vacancy
These strategies can help.
1. Know this: IT’S NOT A LINEAR PROCESS!
2. Network, Network, Network!
3. Be Generous With Self Acknowledgement and Self-Care
4. Choose Expansive vs Limiting Beliefs
5. Build and Use Support Systems
6. Stay on the Plus Side
Let’s look at each of these in more detail.
1. Know this: IT’S NOT A LINEAR PROCESS!
You will experience less frustration and waste less time if you accept this and don’t try to use your left brain to figure out the whole thing in advance. Allow for surprises, serendipitous connections, and intuitive hits.
Be very clear on your intention, stay in action, and listen to the feedback. By “listen to the feedback” I mean observe your results. Notice what’s working and what isn’t. Keep doing what’s working. Stop doing what’s not working and get some help with it – try to figure out WHY it’s not working, and fix it if it’s fixable. Stay in action!
Did you ever play the board game Clue? Remember the secret passage from the Kitchen to the Ballroom? In a career process, you never know when or where you will find a secret passage!
2. Network, Network, Network!
Let everyone know what you are up to, and let them know how they can help you. I mean everyone. Not just your closest friends and your siblings, everyone! That means the people you run into, your neighbors, your hairdresser, your colleagues, your doctor, dentist, accountant, attorney, the folks who service your car, and so forth.
Have you ever been able to be helpful to someone who wanted to make a connection of some sort? Have you, for example, ever been able to give someone the name of a great housepainter (electrician, accountant, chiropractor) when they asked? It’s an easy and delightful thing to do for another person. Let the people in your life have that opportunity with you. Let them know how they can help you. Is there a company or an industry you wish you knew somebody in so you could talk to them? Ask around.
During my own career exploration that eventually led me to coaching, there was a point at which I wanted to deliver some corporate training on issues pertaining to personal and organizational change. Although I knocked directly on corporate doors, my breakthrough opportunity came from a student in one of the music classes I was teaching at the time. She asked me to do a training for her staffs on “Managing Change.” She knew of my interest because I had told the class what I was up to.
Of course, if your exploration needs to be confidential, you will need to be more discrete in the way that you do it. Do your networking quietly, but do your networking.
3. Be Generous With Self Acknowledgement and Self-Care
Two kinds of self acknowledgement are required during a career change.
First, you must regularly acknowledge yourself for the hard work you are doing.
There is a 4-part cycle that your work is part of: 1. set a goal, 2. do the work, 3. meet the goal, and 4. acknowledge and celebrate. The fourth part is equivalent to a paycheck and a boss saying to you, “Good job. I appreciate the work you’re doing!” Your self acknowledgement can be simple and sweet.
The second kind of self-acknowledgement involves your getting very clear on as many of your skills and gifts as you can and taking full ownership of them. You really need to be in full command of what it is you have to offer “out there” in the marketplace. Many people have a hard time “owning” and claiming their expertise, but it’s really essential that you know who you are and what you have to offer – not inflated, not deflated, but accurate.
In addition, extreme self care is called for, above and beyond the usual level. Career change is hard work which can be very depleting. You need to keep yourself nourished – do more of the things that fuel you. And you need to be sure that there are no places where energy is leaking – you need all your energy for this work.
4. Choose Expansive vs Limiting Beliefs
We love to be right. We love to see our beliefs proven true. Those of us who think that people are basically good tend to see the world through that filter. Take a good hard look at the beliefs that are your filter, particularly where they pertain to work, money and opportunity. Do you believe that people “like you” (your gender, age, level of experience) don’t have a chance in the job market? If so, then you will not have a chance because you will not see the opportunities out there for you. Does part of you believe that having money is not a good thing? If so, then you will manifest that ambivalence by not attracting more of it than you already have.
5. Build and Use Support Systems
Do not do this alone. Hire a coach, join or form a group, find a success buddy, create a structured arrangement with a friend. Here are the important elements you want in your support structure: you want people who believe in you and in your quest; you want something structured, so that there is a routine to the support.
In a structured arrangement with a friend for example, you could set it up so each of you gets a 5-minute check-in to report on what you have accomplished since the last time you spoke. And you need to end by getting clear on what your next steps are for today and until the next time you meet. employee

One Cover Letter Secret You Can't Afford To Miss

Suppose you were the hiring manager, your desk piled high with cover letters and resumes to sort through. Which of the following cover letter greetings would grab your attention?
Example #1:
Dear Sirs: Dear Sir/Madam: Dear Gentlemen: To whom it may concern:
Example #2:
Dear Manager: Dear HR Director: Dear Human Resources:
Example #3:
Job Vacancy Indonesia Dear Mrs. Thomas: Dear Mr. Friedman: Dear Sally Williams:
Clearly Example #3 is the best of the bunch because the job-seeker has taken time to find out your name and to spell it correctly.
Consider how you'd feel if you received a cover letter that said Dear Sir or Madam, or worse yet, 'To whom it may concern.' No one will be concerned if you address your cover letter to no one in particular!
Remember, there is nothing as sweet to the ear as the sound of ones name.
Exercise this simple secret and your cover letter will rise to the top of the pile!
"But I don't know who to address my cover letter to!"
If you don't have this information, take time to get it. Call the company. For jobs posted online this may be a challenge. But still, go the extra mile. Then at the very least address your letter to the appropriate entity. Example: Hiring manager; HR Director; etc.
Secret Tip For Emergency Situations
If the name is unavailable, use one of the greetings in Example #2 and add this personal note.
Please Note: I'm sorry for this impersonal greeting on my cover letter. I was unable to get your name online. However, I look forward to the opportunity to meet you in person so I can address you by name and discuss this job opening. I am highly interested in working for {company name}.
This one-two punch would surely grab someone's attention. You are showing your respect and more important, that you care.
This secret tip alone quickly turns a potential negative into a positive that could make the difference between acceptance and rejection.
The bottom line: When you target your cover letter to a specific person by name, you greatly increase your chances of landing the interview, and ultimately the job you desire.
So before you write your next cover letter, ask yourself this essential question: Who, specifically, will be concerned about what I have to say in this cover letter? That person has a name and it sure isn't, "To whom it may concern!"

Interview Bloopers And How To Correct Them

I'm sure you've sat through movie or TV "bloopers" at the end of shows and laughed at the mistakes the actors make during the filming of the show. If I could put together a film with bloopers that people make in interviews it might seem funny as well – but not when it happens in real life - to you!
How do you avoid bloopers? First you become aware of what some of the pitfalls of interviewing are and then you prepare and practice so that it won't happen to you. Here are 10 of those very pitfalls to watch for.
1. Poor non-verbal communication – slouching – fidgeting – lack of eye contact
It's about demonstrating confidence - standing straight, making eye contact, and connecting with a good, firm handshake. That first impression can be a great beginning, or a quick ending to your interview.
2. Not dressing for the job or company – "over casual"
Today's casual dress codes in the office, do not give you permission to dress as "they" do when you interview. It is important to look professional and well groomed, above all. Whether you wear a suit or something less formal depends on the company culture and the position you are seeking. If possible, call and find out what the company dress code is before the interview.
3. Not listening – only worrying about what you are going to say
From the very beginning of the interview, your interviewer is giving you information, either directly or indirectly. If you are not listening – turning up your intuitive - you are missing a major opportunity. Good communication skills include listening and letting the person know you heard what they said. Observe your interviewer and match that style and pace.
4. Talking too much – telling it all – even if it's not relevant
Telling the interviewer more than they need to know could be a fatal mistake. When you have not prepared ahead of time you may tend to ramble, sometimes talking yourself right out of the job. Prepare for the interview by reading through the job posting; matching your skills with the requirements of the position, and relating only that information.
5. Being over-familiar – your new best friend is NOT the interviewer
The interview is a professional meeting to talk business. This is not about making a new friend. The level of familiarity should mimic the demeanor of the interviewer. It is important to bring energy and enthusiasm to the interview, and to ask questions, but not to over-step your place as a candidate looking for a job.
6. Using inappropriate language – you "guys" know what I mean
It's a given that you should use professional language during the interview. Be aware of any inappropriate slang words or references to age, race, religion, politics, or sexual preferences – these topics could get the door slammed very quickly.
7. Acting cocky – being overconfident – "king of the hill"
Attitude plays a key role in your interview success. There is a fine balance between confidence, professionalism, and modesty. Even if you're putting on a performance to demonstrate your ability, over-doing is as bad, if not worse, as being too reserved.
8. Not answering the question asked – "jumping in without thinking"
When an interviewer asks for an "example of a time," you did something, he is seeking a sample of your past behavior. If you fail to relate a "specific" example, you not only don't answer the question, but you miss an opportunity to prove your ability and tell about your skills.

The Secret of Selling Yourself

A very effective and persuasive tactic when selling something is to promote its benefits as well as its features. Very simply, features are what something has; benefits are what those features do for you. For example, if you’re selling your used Oldsmobile, one of the features you might mention is its large trunk. If you focus only on the feature, you’ll say, “This car has a large trunk.” (Yawn) But if you promote that feature with its benefit, you could say, “The trunk is huge. You can get three suitcases and your golf bag in there for a trip to Disneyland and still have plenty of room for all the souvenirs you’ll want to bring home!” See how that makes a more powerful impression? The potential buyer can visualize how this car with its large trunk can make packing for his next trip much easier. Use the same tactic for each feature of the car, and (Ka-ching!) you have a much quicker sale.
When you’re preparing your resume or answering questions during an interview, you’re selling yourself, so use that same tactic: sell your benefits along with your features! Here’s how:
Consider these typical “features” a job applicant might mention during an interview:
• 10 Years of Experience
• Ability to Type 90 Words Per Minute
• Strong Organizational Skills
• Dedicated
• Excellent Communicator
• 2004 Administrator of the Year, Acme International Inc.
Those are pretty impressive. Now let’s see how you can turn those “features” into “benefits:”

Feature: 10 Years of Experience. Benefits: “I know what to expect in this type of position; I’ve handled this type of work before; I won’t need much training or supervision; I’ll hit the ground running and will start producing right away.”

Feature: Ability to Type 90 Words Per Minute. Benefits: “I can get your 10-page reports done in less than an hour; I will speed up your work flow.”

Feature: Strong Organizational Skills. Benefits: “I’ll keep track of your schedule so you’ll always be on time and have the materials you need; I will be able to quickly retrieve any document; I will prioritize my workload to ensure the most critical projects are done first; I will save you time; I’ll help you make your boss happy.”

Feature: Dedicated. Benefits: “I will support the company’s overall mission and do whatever I can to help achieve it; I won’t complain about hard work or long hours; I will faithfully do my job to the best of my ability.”

Feature: Excellent Communicator. Benefits: “I will easily be able to give you and your staff the information you and they need, whether in verbal or written form; I will be able to compose much of your correspondence, relieving you of that duty; I will save you time and effort.”

Feature: Administrator of the Year, 2003, Acme International Inc. Benefits: "I’m very good at what I do, and you don’t have to take my word for it – here’s proof that others have recognized my skill, professionalism, and outstanding contributions.”

Even more impressive!

See how that works? A “feature” is nice. But even better is answering the hiring manager’s unspoken question, “So why is that important?” You do that by selling your benefits.

Make a list of your own features and their corresponding benefits. Learn to promote these benefits to your potential employer. Do this in your cover letter, your resume, and during your interview to make a powerful impression. You will SELL yourself into a new job!

How to be an A-List Employee or Candidate

Hopefully, we all understand the importance of "marketing" ourselves in our careers - selling our skills, our rxperience, our education, our accreditation, and our professional value to our current and future employers.
What we often forget, however, is the importance of the "qualities" or "attributes" that signal a Top Performer.
In fact, in survey after survey asking managers and leaders what they look for in model employees, ATTRIBUTES are frequently the first mentioned - not skills, not education, not certification, but rather personal attributes and qualities that separate Top Performers from the pack.
Throughout all of these surveys, while many unique features appear, common themes keep coming to the surface. Below, you will find the Top 5 qualities that appear again and again. If you can demonstrate these qualities on the job, highlight them come promotion time, and communicate them in an interview, then you will definitely identify yourself as a Top Performer, separate yourself from the competition, and advance your career.
1. Self-Motivated/Lifelong Learner
Being self motivated refers not only to getting the job done without being told, but more importantly it means taking responsibility for doing whatever is necessary to get the job done, and making certain that you have the tools to get the job done.
In other words, employers are looking for people with a "passion" for self-improvement; people who will manage their own personal and professional development, learn aggressively, and take the initiative to get the expertise required to add more value to the company. Hiring managers very often look to the Education section of a résumé to see if candidates have continued learning and growing as part of their career.
So, take control of your professional development and growth.
2. Interpersonal Skills
Most people will agree that good interpersonal skills are important, but what do we really mean by it? Ultimately, it boils down to this: "getting along." Getting along with others, whether customers or colleagues, is at the heart of fitting in with the culture of a company, being a valuable part of your team, and being successful.
Only in rare cases will a company reward the unpopular, unfriendly "lone wolf" who nevertheless delivers results - it may pay off short term, but in the long term, people just get tired of putting up with it, especially if it infects team performance.
So, get along with those you work with, those you work for, and those you want to work for. "Fitting in" and "getting along" may not be in your performance targets, but it will pay off big time!
3. Think Strategically
Employers want people who not only focus on their areas of expertise, but who also see where and how it fits in with the big picture.
Strategic thinkers are always looking to find out where the organization needs or wants to go next, and then they position themselves to help the organization get there.
In other words, in addition to doing your assigned job, try to see your organization (or your division or department) as your customer, and then seek to meet that customer's needs.
The better you understand your company's strategy, and the more you can contribute to its value, the better job you can do in communicating YOUR value.
Communicating your value is ideally a matter of positioning your skills, experience, and knowledge in the context of what's important to the company - if you continue to think strategically and contribute strategically, you will start to stand out as someone who can really make a difference.
4. Inquisitive/Champion Innovation
Top performers are always looking for a better way to do things, and top employers are always looking for these people.
You don't necessarily have to be the person to build the better mousetrap, but if you keep an open mind, question the status quo, and encourage innovation and out-of-the-box thinking from those around you, you may be the one who recognizes the NEED for the better mousetrap.
So, be inquisitive and ask questions both of yourself and what you see around you. Whether you have the power to influence your organization or just your own desktop, if you can help it stay on the cutting edge, you'll stand out as a Top P erformer.
5. Flexible/Adaptable/Open to Change
This is not a new concept, but it often remains the difference between those that move ahead and those that stay behind. Business is about change - those who embrace it will thrive, and those who resist it will not. It's that simple.
However, embracing or rejecting change really only differentiates the good performers from the poor performers.
If you want to take it to the next level, if you want to be the Top Performer among the good performers, you also need to be able to ANTICIPATE change.
This is especially true for managers and leaders, but still applies to everyone else. Just as I spoke of above with "encouraging innovation," the ability to anticipate change - seeing it coming and sometimes even going out after it - keeps companies on the leading edge, and separates the leaders from the followers.

Career Planning: Do What You Love and Love What You Do!

You can learn a lot about how to write a powerful cover letter, not by reading books on cover letters written by employment experts, but by reading your junk mail.
Job Vacancy Indonesia, Employee

That's right: Start reading the sales letters you get in the mail if you want to write cover letters that produce job interviews.
That's because, as far as is known, nobody ever got rich writing books on cover letters.
But there are plenty of copywriters who earn more than $500,000 per year and $50,000 per letter.
They get this kind of money for writing sales letters that sell in the millions of dollars.
And, since your job search is ultimately a sales and marketing campaign, why not take your cover letter cues from the letters written by highly paid copywriters?
Here are four ways to do it ...
1) Begin with a Name
When's the last time you bought something from a sales letter that began, "Dear Occupant"?
I thought so.
Why not?
Because, if the writer doesn't even know your name, how are they going to understand your situation enough to deserve getting your hard-earned money?
Employers think the same way.
Why should they give you their money -- in the form of salary -- if you start your cover letter, "Dear Sir or Madam"?
So, it behooves you to start every cover letter with the name of the hiring authority. Make as many phone calls as it takes to find that person's name.
Here's a script to use when you call: "I'm writing a letter to the head of your Accounting/Customer Service/Warehousing Department. Could I have the correct spelling for that person's name please?"
2) Know Your Reader, Then Prove It
Your cover letter should show that you researched the employer. The more relevant, specific facts you can include in your letter, the better your odds that at least one of them will connect with the reader.
Every company hiring has problems to solve and opportunities to capitalize on.
Find them by asking the people you know personally and professionally. Good places to start are your email address book, followed by Linkedin.com. You can also try Facebook, MySpace and Zoominfo.com.
Google can provide a mountain of intelligence. Your main task will be to prioritize which facts to include and which to leave out of your cover letter.
In fact, if you don't have room for everything, that can be good!
In your cover letter, include two or three relevant bits of information from your research, then language to this effect: "There isn't room here to discuss all the ways I can contribute to ABC Corp., so please call me today to learn four more areas I can help you with, including the $750,000 opportunity mentioned in yesterday's New York Times."
3) Turn I, Me, My into You, You, You
Read any good sales letter and one of the most common words will always be YOU.
That's because good copywriters understand human nature, and how natural it is to be selfish. We care about ourselves first and foremost.
And, because hiring managers are human, they care more about themselves and their problems than about you and yours.
With that in mind, you can instantly improve any cover letters by making one, simple change: Turn all the mentions of "I, me, mine" into "you, You, YOU."
Example: Don't write, "I'm applying for a job where my skills will be rewarded with the opportunity for me to advance."

Boost your career

Unique talentsIf you know where you're distinctive, and in your job does not feel that you're working, you have found your unique talents. If you use your unique talents you will be able to continuously develop your practice in areas with a high added value, and also have energy all day long at work to be.

Discover your talentsPeople often find it difficult to express their talents. Soon we then limited to subject areas and qualifications. But talents are broader than that. Think of things like organizing, presenting, analyzing, managing, negotiating, persuading or write. Features that do not easily learn in school, but often by nature possesses. And these are qualities that many in your career could come in handy. So make a list of these things once and do not be modest. Can you imagine anything so quickly, think about your previous jobs or other situations such as internships, school, volunteer. Where were you good at and where you excelled off. Ask others.

Do what you really want

Paula has a career and a great job as lead auditor. But in her previous job she was much happier. And she has many dreams. She decides to let the pressure of examinations and rigorous life throws at her.
Job Vacancy Indonesia, Employee
Paula has a career and a great job as lead auditor. But in her previous job she was much happier. And she has many dreams. She decides to let the pressure of examinations and rigorous life throws at her.
She has only three months a new job, but Paula (33) already feels miserable. Themselves, she thinks that's because of the high pressure. As lead auditor with a certification authority in the health care they are much in the car. She comes home late and then expect her supervisor that she still answers emails and prepare reports. The work seems never finished and she is totally exhausted.
HigherAlready during the first walking session we find out that Paula was not burned by high pressure. She landed in the wrong place and does not work that suits her. Quite a few years ago she worked with mentally disabled people as creative supervisor.
The work she did seven years, and she loved it. But after a while the challenge was away and she wanted to get on. Paula went Policy and Management in Health study and other jobs came in contact: team leader, staff member and eventually her new job quality lead auditor.
That this work is not really ready for it, when I show her how her work would look like today if there were no barriers. What would they do the sweetest? "I want my work with mentally handicapped, but not all day. I also want to make policy, operational policy with creative solutions to problems that the supervisors encounter. I do morning and afternoon I myself for such a group and try my own solutions. "Paula wants to do something professionally with her creativity, along with the mentally handicapped. But this idea is not entirely clear. Lists these dreams they are very different from the control work she does now.
Competitive spirit and perfectionismI find it remarkable that such a happy girl as Paula, who is firmly in her shoes and many in-house in three months time so can get overworked. Why is she buried in a job that might be prestigious, but not suits her? I see this more often with people I coach and often hangs with perfectionism or an urge to perform. Paula also has one of its strengths achievement. There can of course very far along, but people who use performance orientation for work not actually suits them, but by thunder and keep doing violence to themselves. They do not give up and especially not fail. Why they continue to work hard if they are completely unhappy in a job.

"Also see Ada in her job as an account has advantages in its high sensitivity," I feel like the seller of other goods. This gives me very quickly a foundation of trust with customers. So I can easily sell. "An interesting jobAll in all there are prospects for hsp who desperately ask, "Will I ever go further than this boring job?" Many highly sensitive people have gradually found a guide for himself, and if successful steps in their careers can take. Jeanette was a few years ago as desperate: "I struggled with the acceptance of my high-sensitivity, I would prefer to be normal. But now I enjoy my work. "High Sensitivity in the workplace: two sides of the coin:High Sensitivity High Sensitivity and quality as an expenseToo many people feel good moods are influenced by othersMany signals Regularly pick up area in need of restCaring for others too much care for othersQuality of paramount importance have to do it perfectlyTake too much responsibility on your shouldersPleasant Trouble liaising with assertivenessIntuitive Your intuition can not feel much into actionDriven and hard work by overwork burnoutCreate new solutions you bored with repetitive workEarly trends and identify risks no response within the organizationLift the receiver to make a meaningful contribution to meaningless goals

If you prefer being in the water, you should check out these two summer job options. They generally require more experience and certification than some other summer jobs, but they are a great way to combine your love of water with making some summer money. Opportunities for life-guarding and swimming instructors can be found at city pools, beaches, summer camps, and recreational facilities.
Indoor Sports Facilities:
There are lots of different opportunities at indoor sports facilities that can be great if you're into sports. You can work at skating rinks, bowling alleys, in a fitness centre, or at a pool. Jobs range from doing maintenance, customer service, or selling tickets for events. A good way to prepare for a job like this is to get First Aid Certification before you apply for a job, since many sports facilities require this.
Retail Sports Jobs:
If you love sports, why not consider applying to work at a retail store that focuses on sports? You'll have the valuable knowledge that will make it helpful for customers who are looking at getting sports equipment or information about starting a sport. You might also be offered an employee discount which could benefit you as well. Consider big box sports stores and traditional stores that have sports departments.
You don't have to sacrifice your love of sports when you're looking for a summer job. Just think creatively and look for opportunities that allow you to use your sporting skills.
